The Monarch of the Glen was originally commissioned as one of 3 works to hang in the Palace of Westminster in London, and quickly became a very popular design. Representing a red deer stag, the work encapsulates the grandeur and majesty of Scotland’s highlands and wildlife. Showing 12 points on the antlers, this stag is in fact a "royal" stag, not a "monarch" which requires 16 points. The Monarch of the Glen shows the stag in command of its environment which was unusual for artworks of the time, often depicting animals being pursued by hunters.
Usage: Generally, we find tailors prefer to work with two panels of a single painting per jacket in order to line up the image along the back seam. Two linings can be purchased at the automatically discount price of £250. For full details on how best to use our linings, click here: Linings FAQ.
