This painting is inspired by a scene from Orlando Furioso, a poem written by Ludovico Ariosto in 1532. In this scene, Angelica, the daughter of the king of Cathay is captured and chained to a rock in the sea, intended to be offered as a sacrifice to a sea monster. King Ruggiero then comes to her rescue and saves her by defeating the beast.
A vibrant and eye-catching piece, full of colour and mainly light pastel tones, subtly playing with light and shadow. This pocket square is the perfect addition to a beige jacket when folded to show the blue colours, and with a brown or navy jacket when showing the whiter part of the painting.
